Thomas Lee Skau, 63, of Hendersonville passed away Friday morning, October 7, 2011 at the Elizabeth House following a brief illness.

A native of Westminster, CO, he was a son of the late John and Lucille Freeman Skau.

After graduating from high school, he proudly served in the US Army. Following his honorable discharge, he began his 33-year employment as a buyer for Payless Cashways. He moved to Kansas City in 1988 before making Henderson County his home in 2009.

Thomas was a loving husband and father. He enjoyed fishing and simply taking in the outdoors. He loved being in the mountains, whether in Colorado or here in Western North Carolina.

He is survived by his wife of 13 years, Marilyn K. Skau; step-son, David Admire of Hendersonville; brothers, John Skau of Billings, MT, Tim Skau of Grand Junction, CO, Vincent Skau of Broomfield, CO; sister, Diane Skau of Westminster, CO; and sister-in-law, Barbara Andrews and her husband, Don of Hendersonville.

A Memorial Service will be held at 10 AM, Friday, October 14, 2011 at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery, 962 Old US Hwy 70, Black Mountain, NC 28711.

Memorials may be made to Four Seasons Compassion for Life, 571 S. Allen Road, Flat Rock, NC 28731.
