Thurman Robert ìT.R.î Creekmore passed on to eternal rest on Thursday, November 6, 2008, at Elizabeth House in Flat Rock, NC surrounded by family.
He was born on August 12, 1916 in Spring Hope, NC to Robert E. and Flossie Powell Creekmore. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Ethel Davis; brothers, Harvey, Opie, and Edmund Creekmore.
He was employed by Seaboard Coastline Railroad, retiring in 1976 after 30 years of service. He was a faithful member of Falls Road Baptist Church. He enjoyed gardening and baseball, especially the Atlanta Braves. Prior to moving to Spring Arbor in Hendersonville, NC in November of 2003, he and his wife lived in Rocky Mount, NC, all of their adult lives.
He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Annie Howell Creekmore; his three children, one son, Dr. Robert W. Creekmore and wife Jane of Delran, NJ; two daughters, Linda Cannady and husband Jim of Atlanta, GA, and Carolyn Dozier and husband Steve of Hendersonville, NC; six grandchildren, Kim and Rob Creekmore, Jamie Cannady, Nick, Chris & Jessica Dozier; three great grandchildren; and one brother, Rufus Creekmore and his wife Lina, of Rocky Mount, NC.
A special thank you to the staff and volunteers of Four Seasons Hospice and Palliative Care and Spring Arbor of Hendersonville, for the care and support received during his battle with cancer.
A graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM Monday, November 10, 2008 at Rocky Mount Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 9:00 PM Sunday, November 9, 2008 at the Johnson Funerals and Cremations on English Road, Rocky Mount, NC.
