Waneta Lou “Mollie” Collins, 81, of Hendersonville, NC died in faith Wednesday, October 25, 2017 at Mission Hospital in Asheville.

Born in Boyne Falls, MI, she was a daughter of the late Samuel John and Gertrude Anna Gangolf Carson. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Marge Hills, and brother, Samuel Carson, DO.

Before moving to Hendersonville, Mollie had resided in Fountain Valley, CA, Brookfield, CT and Radford, VA. For 18 years she served as a library professional at Joel Barlow High School in Redding, CT, and for five years as a library catalog professional at Radford University.

Mollie was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, ICC Women’s Guild, ICC Rose’s Ministry and also served as an Auxiliary member at Pardee Memorial Hospital. She was a devout Catholic, a loving wife and mother, and an avid reader and gardener. Mollie especially loved spending time with her four beloved grandchildren.

She is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Gerald Collins; daughter, Libby Collina and husband, Jack, of Hendersonville; sons, Mike Collins of New Fairfield, CT and Steve Collins and wife, Trang, of Flat Rock; grandchildren, Riley Collins, Madison Collins, Gage Collina and Maddox Collina; sister, Ann Shaler and husband, Frank, of Boyne City, MI; brother-in-law, Roy Hills, DO of Saginaw, MI; Becky Carson of Mt. Pleasant, MI; Gail and Susan Collins of Canton, MI; and many nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 3 PM Friday, December 1, 2017 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Fr. Martin Schratz will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Good Samaritan Fund, c/o Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 208 7th Avenue West, Hendersonville, NC 28791.
