Mr. Wayne R. Bordner, Sr. passed away peacefully on November 4, 2013 in Fort Worth, TX, his family at his side.
Mr. Bordner was born in Canton, Ohio on December 10, 1933 to Eva Ritter and Paul Bordner. He proudly served in the U. S. Army during the Korean War and was honorably discharged in 1953. He married Shirley Christine Clary on December 17, 1954 in Miami, Florida.
The Bordners raised their two children, Cynthia and Wayne, Jr. in Miami where they resided for 24 years. Wayne, Sr. retired from Florida Power and Light before relocating his family to Henderson County, North Carolina in 1979. He retired from North Carolina State Highway Department and moved to Fort Worth, TX in May, 2011. He was a soft-spoken, loving husband and father who loved the ocean, traveling, playing poker and bingo.
Wayne, Sr. is survived by his wife of almost 59 years, Shirley, daughter Cynthia, and son and daughter-in-law Wayne, Jr. and Sandra.
A memorial service will be held at 6:00 PM on Monday, November 18, 2013 at the Kirby Chapel of Shuler Funeral Home. Interment will be at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Black Mountain on Tuesday, November 19, 2013 at 10:00 AM, with a private family committal service.
