William Chipman Hill Boyle, 80, of Lake Pointe Landing, died Saturday, December 22, 2012 at the Elizabeth House.

A native of Medford, MA, he was the son of the late Dr. Milton Boyle and Etta Hill Boyle. He is also preceded in death by a sister, Loretta Crawford. He served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict and graduated with a B.S. degree from Babson College and a M.A. degree from University of North Florida.

Bill had prior residences in Waycross, GA, Jacksonville, FL, and Asheville, NC before moving to Hendersonville. He was Vice-President of General Box Co in Waycross, GA; and then retired as Logistic & Administrative Manager for the city of Jacksonville, FL. Bill was a member of Hendersonville First United Methodist Church. He loved horses, reading, writing poetry, and woodworking.

He is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Carolyn Boyle; three children, William C. H. Boyle, Jr. and his wife, Karen, of Waycross, GA, and Peter Boyle and his wife, Troy, of Kenner, LA, Katherine Ashley and her husband, Steve, of Jacksonville, FL; three step-daughters, Cathy Hodgdon and her husband, David, of Rome, Italy, Cindy Seay of Tulsa, OK, and Cheryl Haynes and her husband, Daniel, of Escondido, CA; eight grandchildren, Julia Benton, William Boyle, III, Cameron Boyle, Benjamin Boyle, Jeremiah Haynes, Brian Haynes, James Seay, and Carrie Flemming; two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mildred Perkins and her husband, George, of Lynnfield, MA and Irene Gerwick of Hudson, MA; three brothers, Dr. Milton Boyle and his wife, Juel, of North Berwick, ME, The Rev. Kenneth Boyle and his wife, Dale, of Attleboro, MA, and Dr. Lawrence Boyle and his wife, Vickie, of Biddleford, ME; and faithful caregivers, Rhonda Harmon, Sherri Griffin, and Debra Hirsbrunner.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, January 4, 2013 at the Kirby Memorial Chapel of Shuler Funeral Home. The Rev. Kenneth Boyle will officiate. Interment will take place prior to the service at WNC State Veterans Cemetery in Black, Mtn.

The family would like to extend a thank you to all of the staff at Elizabeth House who provided gentle end-of-life care for Mr. Boyle.
