William D. ìBudî Toney, 78, of Hendersonville, NC, died Wednesday, April 15, 2009 at Memorial Mission Hospital in Asheville, NC.

A native and lifelong resident of Henderson County, he was the son of the late Oliver Howard Toney and Mamie Olive Kuykendall Toney.

He was employed by Cranston Print Works for eighteen years and owned and operated a grading and excavation business for over twenty years. He was of the Baptist faith.

He is survived by his loving family, three sons, Dan Toney and Roger Toney, both of Hendersonville, and Neal Toney and wife, Camilla, of Alabama; one daughter, Wanda Gayle Shipman and husband, Paul, of Tryon; two sisters, Lillian Toney Robinson and husband, Floyd, of Hendersonville and Velma Toney Harrell of Georgia; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 1:30 PM Saturday, April 18, 2009 in the Kirby Memorial Chapel of Shuler Funeral Home. The Reverend Dan Holbert will officiate. Burial will follow at Oak Forest Cemetery in Etowah. The family will receive friends from 12:30 -1:30 PM prior to the service at the funeral home. At other times, the family will be at the home of his son, Roger.
