William Edward Camp

William Edward Camp, 81, our beloved sweet Poppiefoot went home to be with the Lord on Monday, May 3, 2010 at Mission Hospital in Asheville. He was a son of the late Ralph and Lena Ward Camp. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the US Air Force. He had been a deacon at Berea Baptist Church for over 30 years and was currently a member of Beulah Baptist Church.

Surviving is his beloved wife of 60 years, Helen Heaton Camp; son Wayne Edward Camp and wife Agnes; daughter Rebecca Jenkins Edney and husband Miles David Edney; grandson William Carroll Jenkins of Charlotte; great-granddaughter Candice Logan Jenkins; great grandson William Devon Jenkins; nephew Jack Leslie Camp; two great-nieces Amber Jessica Camp and Elizabeth Rose Camp; and a sister in law Sarah Beatrice Camp.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00pm on Friday at Beulah Baptist Church. Revs. Dewey Barnwell and Alan Morgan will officiate. Burial will follow in Berea Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00pm to 8:00pm Thursday at Shuler Funeral Home.

We thank the sweet Lord above that our Poppiefoot is at rest in the sweet arms of Jesus. He traveled a straight path into the arms of Jesus for 81 years. Home at last. See you soon Poppiefoot, we wuv you.
